761985e2cb5791e America’s Next Top Model Cycle 15Tyra Banks and influential fashion editor, André Leon Talley, celebrated America’s Next Top Model premiere at Marea in New York City. Now in its fifteenth cycle, you would think it’s time for Tyra Banks to stop “smizing” already and retire the show.  But Tyra and her crew have breathed new life into the show, making this cycle more “high fashion”.

Once again, Tyra and her crew wittled down their pool of tall, thin beauties to just the right group of 14 tall, thin beauties whom they’ll test, tweak and mold until one is crowned a Top Model. Several of the world’s top designers (Diane Von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli) photographers (Patrick Demarchelier, Matthew Rolston) and fashion’s elite (Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani, supermodel Karolina Kurkova), all lend their expertise and vision as guest judges on the show.

This time, there is no “plus-sized” model.  Not even one. Great way to shut out a whole bunch of teenage girls out there.  What’s the reason, Tyra?  Not “high-fashion” enough for you?

Fashion Trends is Changing

As fashion experts assert, the fashion pendulum is constantly swinging back and forth. Everything old is becoming new again, and vice versa. When the popularity of baggy pants started, skinny and tight-fitting jeans became old and outdated. After several years, the pendulum has moved and this time, it is the other way around: skinny and tight-fitting jeans are in and baggy or oversized jeans are out, at least temporarily or for the time being. It is not surprising that in the future, those spacious pants would re-emerge again. For now, let us focus on the current men’s fashion trend.

Many people did not like those baggy pants wherein boxers were showing off because pants were so oversized, they looked as if they are about to fall off anytime. However, as they got used to it, those critics soon learned to appreciate that fashion trend for men. For quite some time, baggy pants dominated men’s urban wear. Now, we are back to slim and skinny silhouettes that are the exact opposite of the oversized or baggy look. Men’s modern fashion is now looking all the more tailored and flat-out skinny with the extreme skater look. Guys in tight-fitting skinny jeans could reminisce and re-live London’s Liverpool looks.

Requirements for a Flourishing Digital Fashion Photography

1. Proper Lighting- The photographer should use curtains and reflectors. Use a tripod and set light to either left or right side of the object at an angle of 45 degree. As much as possible, avoid bright lights, or else use polarizing filters. And lastly, never underexpose parts or expose the whole photo(e); never expose the entire photograph, underexpose other parts.

2. Good Color Harmony- Photographers can make use of backdrop materials to give emphasis on tint and color. Use reflectors, filters, see-thru transparency, and diffusers to neutralize colors. It is recommended to use gray and white backgrounds.

3. The Artistic view of a Photographer – As a professional photographer, your audience may not see what you see in the picture. People pay value to the subject and not on the background. It should connect each other.
